Lack of compliance with a physician’s treatment plan is number one reason for recovery delays, hospital readmissions, and increases complications. The major reasons for non-compliance are
- Lack of understanding of the treatment plan
- Cost of treatment
- Side effects
- Lack of support
- Previous treatment didn’t work in the past (chronic)
Affiliating with an MCS nurse will ensure your patients have the tools and resources to improve compliance, adhere to your treatment plan. Through our Medical Care Coordination team we reinforce your instructions by explaining the plan in ways the patient understands. We educate them on the need for compliance as well as the delays in healing, and progress from non-compliance. We also educate family members as needed. We go a step further by, assessing their home environment, and helping them avoid risks in the home. If there is a nutritional or dietary component to their regimen, we assist with meal planning, as well as providing lists of foods to avoid or add.
An MCS nurse will in-service you and your staff in the referral process and learn your protocols. You will get a home visit progress update after every visit. Call and schedule your in-service session today. Continuing education credit is in process.
